Job Description:
|
The Registered Nurse administers skilled nursing care in the home setting, assigns duties to Home Health staff and supervises their work and coordinates with other health care providers. Identifies and recommends solutions to health problems, and is responsible for implementation and maintenance of nursing care and medical treatment records.

Job Prerequisites:
|
Demonstrates the ability to form a good working relationship with other people.
Extensive walking, standing and lifting.
Must have a current Nevada Drivers License.
Must be available for assigned duties, a dependable vehicle with current Nevada registration, which is insured in compliance with State Statutes and has a medical clause.
Will have the ability to follow and carry out instructions and procedures assigned by the Home Health Manager.
Will attend inservice classes and continuing education seminars to keep current with the latest nursing techniques, and maintains CEU requirements.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Current licensure by Nevada State Board of Nursing.
Two (2) years of hospital nursing experience preferred.

Job Responsibilities:
|
Care of the acute and sub-acute ill patient, chronically ill and aged convalescent patients in the home setting.
Performs and instructs the following nursing care procedures:
a. Assesses vital signs.
b. Baths and linen changes as needed.
c. Dressings – changes and soaks.
d. Catheterizations and bladder irrigations.
e. Urine tests for sugar and acetone/Accucheck/assists with blood glucose.
f. Enemas and douches.
g. Assists with transfer activities and ambulation.
h. Supervises and assists with active, passive and assistive exercises.
i. Ostomy care
j. Record and empty drainage bags and bottles.
Supervises taking prescribed oral medications and teaches medication compliance.
IV line therapy as ordered by physician.
IV medications as ordered by physician.
Venipuncture for drawing blood samples in home for laboratory tests, as ordered by physician.
May give subcutaneous and intramuscular injections.
Lend emotional support and give reassurance to patient.
Will report any significant change in patient or home situation to Home Health Coordinator.
Be responsible for recording on clinical charts.
Must be able to teach patient’s relatives concerning care and needs of patient.
Accurately and promptly completes administrative records which concern hours of work-travel-services, provides statistical reports, etc.
Performs other duties as assigned by the Home Health Manager.
Identifies and works with patient’s physician and interdisciplinary team in solving medical problems.
Develops Nursing care plan from physician orders and observation of patient.
Performs other reasonably related duties as assigned by immediate supervisor and other management as required.
