Job Title: Lab Technologist - Per Diem
Job Description: Perform medical laboratory tests including those requiring independent judgment as precisely and efficiently as possible through the resources and to provide data for diagnosis, treatment and prevention of disease, and is involved in problem-solving, teaching, training and supervisory assistance.
Job Prerequisites: General Supervisor and 3-5 years experience preferred.

Performs all assigned routine and complex laboratory analysis correctly as stated in the procedure manual and with absolute integrity; responsible for the recognition and correction of errors.

Conducts Quality Control procedures for analytical test and instrumentation; evaluates results and implements corrective action when indicated.

Performs instrument maintenance, calibration, standardization and troubleshooting with appropriate documentation.

Verifies and reports patient results in a timely manner either verbally, written or through the use of the computer system.

Seeks supervisory consultation when indicated concerning unusual results, lab policy or procedural questions or instrument problems.

Guarantees the confidentiality of patient identity and data at all times.

Teaches and trains new employees.

Participates in continuing education to maintain proficiency in procedures, techniques and instrumentation; participates in research and the development of new procedures.

Interacts with hospital personnel, peers, patients, clients, visitors and supervisory personnel in a productive and professional manner.

Understands and adheres to company policies as outlined in the Employee Policy Manual.

Performs related work as assigned, i.e., Phlebotomy and clerical duties.
Job Responsibilities: SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

Venipuncture and Phlebotomy skills.

Organize and prioritize the workflow (multitasking).

Good communication skills.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

BS Degree in Medical Technology or in Sciences, plus one year as a Laboratory Technologist or three years of college with substantial course work in Chemistry and Biology, plus one year laboratory training.

Licensed in the State of Nevada as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist. National certification required otherwise, i.e., ASCP, AMT, ISCLT or NCA.
