Department: Business Office
Job Title: File Clerk
Job Description: The purpose of the File Clerk is to keep the Business Office organized as far as alphabetizing, distributing, filing and pulling files or other items as needed.
Job Prerequisites: Must be able to sit, stand and bend for periods of time.

Must have alpha and numeric knowledge and be accurate.

Must be capable of following directions given by Business Office Manager.

Must be agreeable and work well with Business Office staff.
Job Responsibilities: Files all open and closed accounts.

Alphabetizes zero slips and files in appropriate accounts.

Alphabetizes mail and pulls accounts for Account Representatives and Business Office Manager when asked to do so.

Pulls accounts for secondary billing and matches them with appropriate check copies and files accounts alphabetically into secondary billing box.

May be asked to check status of accounts on the computer to determine if an account is open or closed.

May be given special tasks and duties as assigned by the Business Office Manager.

Retrieves closed accounts from the outside storage area when needed by the Business Office staff.

At year-end, boxes up closed accounts that need to go to storage and reorganizes the open and closed account files within the Business Office.

May be asked to fill in on switchboard as needed for lunches or breaks.

Other duties as assigned by the Business Office Manager.
